World Market

People that do not raise their own crops (or livestock) visit markets to find what they need to eat. Some products are locally grown.

Rabat, Morocco
...and meat too!

Other products in other shops travel vast distances to arrive where they are sold. This is a distribution business.

Grocery, Rabat
How about a bag of Crunchips with your olives?
Ou, peut-être une boîte de Mere Poulard, les Sablés Tradition???

Both shop owners have mobile phones. One has a computer. They both speak four languages. What will these folks be able to do when they have a chance to expand their operation to a world market? We will not have to wait another generation to find out. There is change afoot.

Computers is one thing, more importantly is the infrastructure to make things happen. Just like in Algeria, people are starting to learn more about technology, and what it can mean for their business - the only obstacle is a reliable and affordable infrastructure to make things happen.

Third-world countries are going to surpass us all first-world quite soon. Reason? They still have initiative, because their lives are not spoiled by comfort, like ours.
Comfort and convenience are stagnating the first world. Luckily, we will be relieved soon.

"Mullah Abdul Salaam Zaeef is a former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan. He spent almost four years in Guantanamo. He wears a black turban, has a thick beard — and is never without his Apple iPhone"

“It's easy and modern and I love it,” Mr. Zaeef said.

See!~ everyone loves cool technology..

We should get him one of those Genesi laptops...

Yes, and the rest of the Mullah Abdul Salaam Zaeef congregation deserve the same opportunity. When they have the netbooks they will start listening to other voices. They will question the 'righteous'. Good news: there will be fewer suicide bombers and Mullah Abdul Salaam Zaeef will have to find real work. With more responsibility he will be a part of civilized society. Peace, Shak
