Internet to World, Internet to World, please come in World...
Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) *is* taking the Internet to the World. The Internet Bus Project is the latest and greatest originating from Google's unflinching ambition to be enable a world of users. And, as much as we appreciate Google, Google is not the only one to offer Chat into SMS and audio/video telephony from desktop-capable devices. How much farther do we need to go to get to a two-way unregulated Internet broadcast/narrowcast business model that works for others?
In the meanwhile, mobile network operators are expanding into fixed services. The SFR box comes to mind. There are others. Bundled with residential telephone service and IPTV, mobile network operators can pull everything into one messaging and communications package. The consumer can use the most convenient device (fixed or mobile phone, TV or PC) and has only one bill with a host of personalization options (unfortunately, not quite yet true with AT&T mobile, U-Verse, etc.).
We agree with Mary Lou: Pixel Qi Vision Statement. It may take a few more years, but we are headed in the right direction. The Last Mile is getting shorter and closer as we continue to progress.
