We are traveling this week and most of next week, so we have been relying on a combination of 3G and wifi networks. We have had absolutely no problem. The cloud services and virtualizaton era of computing is certainly on the way. We might as well add mobileTV and video-conferencing to the mix.

There are dozens of interesting videos being posted from the Mobile World Congress. The event is being held this week in Barcelona. It is not hard to see where things are going even in the most challenging economic and geographical environments.

We have been working with a mobile network operator that has a subscriber base in Africa. The bulk of the market involves prepayment, but our planning involves new services with a different business model. 90% of all telephone lines in Africa are mobile. The continent's subscriber base grows at roughly 50% per year. With overall market penetration at just over 30% there is plenty of room to grow and many new products and services to be introduced.
