The name Cortex was chosen for two reasons. First, it is an abbreviation of the generic term "core technologies" (name evolution: core technologies, core tech, core tec, cortex). Second, and more importantly in this context, the medical term "cortex" refers to the outermost layer of an organ. Said differently, it adaptively fits around an organ(ization).
Cortex is our newest product. We not only develop system solutions including hardware, firmware, operating systems and applications, but will now bring all these pieces together with an online management, digital distribution and support backend. More and more, devices need the Internet to fulfill their greatest potential. Within Cortex, our customers will find all the tools they need to maintain a continuous and progressive relationship -- with the device and with the end-user. All the properties you would expect with a customer-centric focus are found in Cortex. We think Cortex adds an important dimension to our product offerings.
