Was it Billy Idol or thousands of Confederate soldiers (from the American Civil War, 1861-65) that made those two words sound like so much more?!?
Raquel: Bill...
Bill: Oui chérie!
Raquel: C'est REBOL, pas Rebel.
Bill: Oui, tu as raison...
bbrvblog "REBOL Yell!" Take TWO...
REBOL Yell!
REBOL is pronounced "reb-ol" (as in "rebel yell" - but don't make the same mistake!) and stands for "Relative Expression Based Object Language." It was first released in 1997 and has been downloaded more than four million times since. REBOL runs on a wide variety of system platforms, including both servers and clients. REBOL was created by Carl Sassenrath, who is best known for bringing multitasking to personal computers with the Commodore Amiga operating system. Here is how it looks on the PegasosPPC/ODW:
That's right! And, that is why we are yelling about it. You can download REBOL for the PegasosPPC/ODW on the REBOL Build Page. The LinuxPPC release supports REBOL/Core and View. It will also support the new REBOL Virtual Machine ("rebcode") that is being finalized. The VM obtains performance 10-20 times (not percent, times!) faster for special types of numeric and graphical applications.
The power of REBOL comes from its unique integration of programming language and metadata language concepts. REBOL expresses and symbolizes both algorithms and data equally well, and the flow between those domains is totally fluid. REBOL is optimal for X Internet distributed applications and provides an effective solution to modern network distributed applications. Most REBOL applications are typically measured in 10's of KB, not 10's of MB. And, when it comes to software development and support costs, smaller is better.
Thanks Carl! We appreciate the support!
R&B :-)
P.S. If you give it a try on the PegasosPPC/ODW and Carl let's us know you did, we will send you a very cool Genesi T-Shirt. Thanks Emil for the screenshot!
